Even during the war, the pace of development did not stop, PM Modi told how much work was done in 23 days
PM Modi said at the Summit that in the past month alone, a major scheme has been approved to accelerate industrial development. This will add 1,500 megawatts of new hydropower capacity in the coming years.
WITT Summit 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India has maintained its pace of progress amid all the turmoil around the world.
He said that in the past 23 days since the war began, development projects worth thousands of crores of rupees have been completed across the country, from east to west and north to south.
The inauguration of important metro corridors in Delhi, the foundation stone laying of the high-speed corridor in Silchar, the foundation stone laying of a new airport in Kota, and the granting of international airport status to Madurai Airport—many such achievements have taken place in the past 23 days alone.
These schemes were announced
PM Modi stated at the TV9 Summit that in the past month alone, a major scheme has been approved to accelerate industrial development. Under this initiative, 100 plug-and-play industrial parks will be developed across the country.
A small hydropower scheme has also been approved, which will add 1,500 megawatts of new hydropower capacity in the coming years. He added that during this period, a decision has been made to extend the Jal Jeevan Mission until 2028.
Several major decisions have also been taken for the benefit of farmers. This month, more than ₹18,000 crore has been transferred to farmers' accounts under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. He further stated that a relief package of ₹500 crore has also been announced for MSMEs and exporters.
How many kilometers of highway are being built every day?
PM Modi, while delivering the WITT Summit 2026 keynote address, said that all these steps are proof of the country's rapid progress towards a developed India.
He said that if we evaluate the 10 or 11 years before 2014 and the 10-11 years after that, we will see how India has transformed every sector.
Previously, highways were built at a pace of 11-12 kilometers per day. Now, highways are being constructed at a pace of 30 kilometers per day.
Previously, the turnaround time for ships at ports was 5-6 days. Now, the same work is being completed in less than two days.
55 lakh bank accounts opened
In his address, PM Modi further stated that previously, startup culture was not even discussed. Before 2014, there were only 400 to 500 startups in the country. Currently, there are over 200,000 registered startups in the country.
Previously, medical education seats were limited. Initially, there were approximately 50,000 to 55,000 medical seats. Currently, these seats have increased to over 125,000. Previously, millions of people were excluded from the banking system.
Previously, there were only around 250 million bank accounts in the country. Now, through the Jan Dhan Yojana, over 550 million accounts have been opened. Previously, the number of airports in our country was less than 70. Currently, their number has increased to over 160.
